Sheridan Township Board of Trustee’s
April 16, 2019
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Richard Porter at 7:00 p.m.
Pledge: The pledge was said.
Present: Roll call Randy Fisher, Scott Frederick, Shanna Pollman, Brenda Heisler, and Richard Porter.
Absent: None
Audience: Rich Offerson Board of Review alternate, Cindy Stanczak Director of the Albion District Library, Chief Lance Lohrke, Sheriff Saxton of Calhoun County, Greg Moore of Consumers Energy, and Gary Tompkins the 7th District County Commissioner.
Approval of Agenda: A motion was made by Randy Fisher, 2nd by Brenda Heisler to amend the agenda. The motion passed. Also would like reports for Revenue, Expenditures, Trial Balance and Balance Check Sheets every month.
Minutes: Stand as written
Bills: A motion was made by Scott Frederick, 2nd by Randy Fisher to pay the bills. Roll call vote – Yes – Richard Porter, Randy Fisher, Shanna Pollman, Scott Frederick, and Brenda Heisler. The motion passed.
Treasure’s Investment Report: Stands as written
Correspondence: Trade Winds 2000 acres are from Starr. An open house is in 2 weeks.
Ranger Power held and open house at the Ludington Center with a good crowd.
Planning Committee: -Scott Frederick reported that the Planning Committee is working on the Master Plan.
-Scott Frederick reported that the Road Committee is working on the Road Millage. Also, a thank you to the citizens who contributed money for signs to be handled by the Road Committee.
Fire Department: -See attached report.
-May 5th will be the Pancake Breakfast given by the Fire Department.
Public Comment: -Sheriff Matt Saxton spoke on the Dispatch Board and our costs have gone down significantly, but a small surcharge for cell phones is also attached.
-Cindy Stanczak Albion District Library Director May 5th is a community open house, tours historical history room.
-Marker installing a digital news link.
-Elevator is still not usable.
-Summer reading in June
-Linda Wallace – Leslie asked about the Solar Ordinance and had minutes for Planning Committee. Supervisor Richard Porter addressed her questions concerning our policy on solar (of which we have not solidified.)
Unfinished Business:
New Business: - Supervisor Porter discussed the Road Millage language.
-Greg Moore discussed the Consumers Energy Franchise Ordinance. A motion was made by Randy Fisher 2nd by Shanna Pollman to approve Ordinance 2019-01 as presented. Roll call vote – Yes – Richard Porter, Shanna Pollman, Scott Frederick, Randy Fisher, and Brenda Heisler. The motion passed.
-Calhoun County Road Department – A motion was made to accept a quote without tree trimming by Scott Frederick, 2nd by Shanna Pollman. Roll call vote – Yes – Randy Fisher, Brenda Heisler, Richard Porter Shanna Pollman, and Scott Frederick. The motion passed.
-County Commissioner Gary Tompkins spoke on “Senior Services” and the “Senior Fair” in Marshall.
-Commissioner Tompkins talked on the roads and bridges.
-There is also information in Commissioner Tompkins News Letter.
-24 Mile Road is to be re-opened; an agreement with Marengo Township is for about $9,000.00 dollars for repairs only.
-A motion was made by Scott Frederick, 2nd Shanna Pollman for the Zoning Enforcement to use a drone. The motion passed.
-A motion was made by Scott Frederick, 2nd by Randy Fisher to put the Zoning Ordinances on the Sheridan Township Web-Site. The motion passed.
-A motion was made by Shanna Pollman, 2nd by Randy Fisher to dispose of the computers, and old electronic equipment. The motion passed.
-The Resolution pertaining to the Non-Partisan voting did not pass; the clerk is to send the vote back to the MTA.
-Two cases are in the 10th District Court Crandall and Crumbsy are to be cleaned up by Sheridan Township. Crumbsy will be fighting this judgement.
