February 19, 2019
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Supervisor Richard Porter @ 7:00 p.m.
Pledge: The pledge was given by Supervisor Richard Porter.
Present: Roll call Randy Fisher, Scott Frederick, Shanna Pollman, Brenda Heisler, and Richard Porter.
Absent: None
Audience: County Commissioner Gary Tompkins, Chief Lance Lohrke, Prosecutor David Gilbert, Fireman Lance Waito, Library Director Cindy Stanczak.
Approval of Agenda: A motion was made by Randy Fisher, 2nd by Scott Frederick to approve the agenda as presented. The motion passed.
Minutes: The minutes stand as written.
Bills: A motion was made by Shanna Pollman, 2nd by Randy Fisher to pay the bills. Roll call vote – Yes – Randy Fisher, Shanna Pollman, Richard Porter, Scott Frederick, and Brenda Heisler. The motion passed.
Treasurer’s Investment Report: Accepted as written.
Correspondence: -Trade Winds Power is requesting the number of times that the hall is rented due to the possible solar panel size.
-Trade Winds Power is going to request the use of Marshall Schools for a Hearing for a question and answer meeting about their project.
-They have 2,500 acres already leased.
Planning Committee: -Scott Frederick reported that the Planning Committee is working on the Master Plan and the Turbine Plant.
-Scott Frederick also reported that the County Road Committee stated that it will cost $49,500 to put 24 Mile Road back to gravel our share is $18,000.
Fire Department: -Chief Lance Lohrke said they had 10 calls in January see the attached report.
-Training for January 13-14 was inventory and medical.
Public Comment: -Library Director Cindy Stanczak said in January the library was opened for the Polar Vortex, and served 60 people each day.
-February 28, to sometime in March for the opening of the 3rd floor elevator.
-Black History month has contests going.
-Prosecutor Gilbert says that he is running for re-election.
-Commissioner Tompkins advised us of his appointments – Senior Allocating, Homer Lake, Calhoun County, Planning Commission, and Trailway Alliance.
-Commission Tompkins said they are doing a Transportation Study with 5 members and a facilitator. There will be a Public Hearing available all dates to be put in his newsletter.
-Commissioner Tompkins passed out a pamphlet he’s proposing the Balanced Local Road Improvement Program, the 50/50 Local Road Share Proposal by Gary Tompkins. This was discussed and reviewed by the Sheridan Township Board.
Unfinished Business: -The General Policy for Sheridan Township is on hold, a motion was made by Randy Fisher, 2nd by Scott Frederick to table for 3 months. The motion passed.
-The drop box was discussed; a motion was made by Shanna Pollman, 2nd by Scott Frederick to get the drop box. Roll call vote – Yes – Randy Fisher, Richard Porter, Shanna Pollman, and Scott Frederick. – No –Brenda Heisler. The motion passed.
New Business: - Salaries- the assessors were asking for an increase with Daniel $15,300 and Robyn $5,100, discussion followed. A motion was made by Scott Frederick, 2nd Brenda Heisler to change the salary to $20,400. Roll call vote – Yes –Richard Porter, Randy Fisher, Shanna Pollman, Brenda Heisler, and Scott Frederick. The motion passed.
-A motion was made by Scott Frederick, 2nd by Randy Fisher to accept the 2019-2020 Budget as presented to take to the Budget Hearing in March. Roll call vote – Yes – Brenda Heisler, Randy Fisher, Shanna Pollman, Richard Porter, and Scott Frederick. The motion passed.
-There was a discussion on the needing to make the Building Inspector an employee; this was tabled until the next meeting, with Supervisor Porter to retrieve more information.
Adjourn: A motion was made to adjourn by Randy Fisher, 2nd By Shanna Pollman @ 8:45 p.m. The motion passed.
