Re: Pine Gate/Shipsterns Solar

The meeting was opened with the Pledge of Allegiance.
Purpose: The meeting was held to discuss and gather information re: the Pine Gate/Shipsterns Solar project that will locate on 28 Mile Road beginning south of L Drive, N. extending to F Drive, N. on the east side of 28 Mile Road. Copies of Conditional Use Permit site plans were available*
Bergman began by explaining that Shipsterns is working with Consumers Energy on an energy purchase agreement. They are currently working on rezoning the area with the residents involved. The company has been doing business in Michigan since 2006 and they boast a strong maintenance program.
Koller reported that they have 40 projects in Michigan. The 28 Mile Road project will include 230 acres and plans for 112 panels. The company has reviewed Sheridan Township's Zoning Ordinance re: solar energy facilities and will be in compliance.
Shipsterns/Pine Gate anticipates construction will begin in late summer of 2021. They have agreements with four property owners which includes seven parcels.
Atkin commented that no Variance Requests are required.
A public hearing will be held via Zoom on Monday, March 22, at 7:00 p.m. Letters will be sent to surrounding property owners and be advertised in the local newspaper. Maps of the area will be available prior to the public hearing.
